Church Soundproofing

In Madison, Tennessee, church goers who walk into their sanctuary are greeted with an odd sign. It reads, “No Children Under 2 Years of Age Allowed in the Sanctuary.”

Strange, right?

Not really. The church wants to offer everyone the opportunity to experience the lessons of the day. Therefore, mothers with children are encourage to go to the soundproof room off the side of the sanctuary. They can see the service through the glass and hear it through speakers but the rest of the congregation doesn’t have to hear the kids playing or crying.

Fair is fair?

Not everyone agrees but we think it’s a great way to make sure the hardest working moms can still make it to church without feeling embarassed about their fidgety kids.
