Hospital Noise Causes Problems

There’s no doubt about it. Take one step into a hospital and you’ll immediately realize now noisy the place can be. You’ll hear overhead announcements, rumbling medical systems, the loud comments of hospital staff and visitors, and so much more.

The problem? Increased levels of sound can have an incredibly negative effect on accuracy in a hospital setting.  Nurse distracted by the beeping of a monitor may not hear an order correctly. Patients, already uncomfortable because they are in unfamiliar surroundings, can’t sleep. All of these things can have critical negative impacts on a patients health. Even the doctors and nurses themselves can become stressed due to constant exposure.

So what should they do? Many hospitals have already begun hiring acoustical consultants to help them with renovations and upgrades. At the end of the day, incorporating products like Green Glue damping compound into the structure will help to buffer some of the sound. While it can’t be eliminated altogether, reducing the level of noise will make hospitals into safer places for all involved.
